The size of my colas not topping Vs topping are ridiculous and with the right training, the yield is still just as great!! Anyone else in the same boat!?!

More canopy coverage? Less chance of budrot?

I’ve always been team ” bend the bitch” vs team top but it was mostly because I thought ganja bonsai was more fun

Personally for indoor I feel that either are viable and your ability to control veg time can produce the same yields. Outdoor I get smaller main colas after topping but my overall yield per plants remains higher.

Can you be more specific about the right kind of training? I’d like to try this

I quit topping a long time ago, unless I’m training some sort of “manifold” or what not. IMO indoors all you need is trellis netting, lollipop and some tie downs/lst clips.

Removing biomass doesn’t usually result in higher yield, thus should only be done as an environmental control. In my yard, if a plant is over 6 feet mid July, its topped. This is only to keep them shorter so they don’t show over the fence. If I had total private space, I’d never top

Personally I do love the big nug on top, but with my dry/cure setup i prefer things a bit smaller and easier to keep an eye on. Ive a main cola hanging atm that im terrified of molding because it looks so nice

Bend don’t cut. Absolutely no reason to top if you know how to train. I grow screens of green indoor or out though. They provide a great trellis for training and support the branches once filled in

Topping works but you have to train meticulously. Constantly adjusting trellis netting to get an even canopy. If it’s even and you have more budsites because of the topping you’re going to get more top quality bud and more overall from your plants. That’s my opinion personally.

Different strokes for different folks. I only top mine when they get too tall to flip. 😁

I never top plants that flower. Only in veg to cut the mother back.

The only time I can support topping is when the piece taken will be used for cloning. I can’t imagine taking all that time, effort, and money just to throw it in the trash to achieve something that can be done while keeping the entire plant. She looks great btw!

Awesome plants op😎 I’ve been a firm user of (fim)ing ,gives more bud sites/ branch growth without effecting the top cola to much

It’s strain dependent. Some a better topped, And you can do the “oh shit” technique where you only cut a tiny tip of the top when it’s a few days into flower.

I don’t think either is better there’s better techniques to use in certain circumstances.. I just topped and used a scrog net and got my heaviest yield to date it’s more genetics, training and how happy the plant is start to finish as a whole more then either technique producing better results. I’ve seen single main stem plants with tiny buds and my last plant was topped more times then I can remember and they were faaaatttttttt 😁

I don’t think I’ve ever not topped any of my plants. I could see it being beneficial to no top an auto and just bend it. Someone should do some experiments

Heads can look better than that with topping. Don’t get me wrong its good but if your topping and fimming correctly , or “main lining ” them you’ll get better results with correct nutrients, lighting, co², vpd and lollipopping . Looking good though

  19. Ok_Medicine_1112

Im topping with the goal of having mainline type branches so I can cross multiple strains with one plant all while fem spraying multiple plants branches in one go, all I gotta do is bend one of the main colas from each plant and have them converge so when I mist them with fem spray I hit them all at once

  20. Ologist126

You can use simple lst and achieve better canopies than mainlining imo… and I’m just a humble diy “pot for pennies” old head on a budgeted budget and I’ve tried everything since 99′ prohibition or not I still found d a way to have at least an outdoor run every year I wasn’t property of the state…

  21. Yeah I rarely top plants anymore much easier to work the canopy, also in my experience the bud uniformity down the plant is better untopped

Growing good weed is like cooking a good steak…. Don’t touch it till its ready.
