Hi, I have no idea what I am doing. My son got a small succulent over the summer to care for. My husband, at some point, put it in red, Oklahoma soil. I dont feel like this was best, but its still alive. Today I see these red things coming out. Is it roots? Bugs? Zombie virus?

What should I do? Google says it is this: Graptopetalum paraguayense.

theyre roots. looks like the succulent is dying at the base. you can chop right before the roots and replant

Yes definitely looks dead and so it’s trying to put out the new roots to establish itself again! Chop it there!
