It really depends on your goals and how quickly you want to get there, ZZs are relatively slow growers so while it actually is possible to get root and rhyzome growth from that leaf it could take around a year to do so

These are very cool to watch as they root in water. It does take a loooong time but the process is fascinating if you like that kind of thing. Just put the leaf in a cup with some pebbles so that it will stand up, and make sure that the stem end is just barely covered by the water. The stem end will start to swell after a while and then roots will begin to project from that. Good luck and have fun!!

It’s worth it. Get a grown plant as well, the little guy will take a couple years.

If you want it in year get a grown one and leave this as a side project. They are very slow growing. I’ve had one for 2 years and not a single leaf. Althoug rhizome is very healthy
