we remember my grandmother having this pothos at least 35 yrs ago. it hasn’t been repotted in all the at time.
the soil is literally the texture of (porous) baked clay. you could knock on it before that detritus appeared there. (is that really just years of pothos droppings?)
i asked my sister-in-law once (because she’s been working in gardening and nurseries for abiut 20 years now) and she laughed! but then she said, it’s thriving so i guess just leave it be for now!
i’m sure it’s stunted at least, because it’s still normal-sized.
anyway, just sharing as a wtf. i’m not really looking for advice but i will surely read and consider it!

First part I read was, “we remember my grandmother”… I thought these were her ashes.
