The Richmond to Kew towpath has been out of use for the better part of a year. It was closed after the bank broke and washed away a section of path.
Remedial work has recently taken place and the first two images are of a section (overflow side, not riverside) they’ve seeming reinforced with with concrete… entirely wrapping around the existing trees.
I know this isn’t a structural engineer’s sub but how permanent do you guys think expect this work to be?

What country is this in?
“Short sighted” is putting it politely.
Bloody stupid is closer to the mark. Whoever did this has no idea what they were doing.
If anything, this seem very forward-thinking to me – after those trees die for obvious reasons, there’ll be big holes in the concrete and whoever did this will get a second paycheck repouring it.
Concrete will be destroyed within a few years, and some of these trees may die sooner than expected.
Very nice job. Probably too expensive for us mainstream customers…
