I’m wondering what we might be able to tell about my fallen tree from its stump. It looks like it had an interesting story. It was about 50ft and I always guessed about 100 years old – pure guess. It fell out of nowhere recently. Can you really discern age from trying to count the rings?

I was waiting for this day for ssssooooo long. I see large rocks the tree had to cope with….. Ok long story on the arborist page for me, 🤣😋 I won’t get into it. But anyway my guess is it’s a Boxelder tree with the red in it and the suckers growing out of it.
It’s not that old maybe 30 years. There are fast growing short lived trees. A 30 to 40 year old tree of this kind is already past its prime. In its short time I am sure it has a few stories to tell. It’s often considered a weed tree that receives a lot of abuse from property owners because most people don’t like them they wish they would die.

It grew in an open sunlight area, I can tell that because of the huge growth rings, also it is only about 50 years old, tried my best to count the rings from the picture.
It’s dead?
Newbie here, what’s with the lobes/folds of the trunk?
