I live in a rental property in WA with a bunch of cedars and pines, they seem healthy but I'm not an expert on these and want to make sure they have no issues or if they need to be pruned/trimmed. Any advice would be helpful

    Take the lights off. Then send better pictures of the entire tree. That band on the first picture is clearly starting to girdle.

    First pic is a maple, i say take the strap off that would become a problem down the road. The lights should be fine as long ass you monitor then and make sure the tree can sway/grow without being “choked”.

    If that’s a big leaf maple, it will prune itself. Which isn’t a great thing, but it’s what they do.

    The Cedars and Firs likely don’t need to ever be pruned unless you want to clear some space at ground level.
