bought this plant last week, previous owned a pothos for 3 years but had to give it away when moving. that one i had used to hang, but i want to try the climbing on a moss pole instead. i already ordered the plastic things and spaghnum, but now when i look at the pot i don’t see where i can even insert the pole. do i have to repot before putting in the plastic pole? i’m wary of reporting so shortly after getting this plant. how would you go about starting the moss pole method w this plant? it’s in a 6 in pot and soil seems very tight and almost stuck together.

I think if your goal is big leaves, I heard it’s better to do it when they have less nodes and not that well established. Especially because yours look long already and you’re gonna have to buy a new pole soon lol.
That looks so established, I might take some good cuttings from that and set them up to go in a pole after water propagation. But that’s just because that’s what I know I could get to work well from previous experience.
But I’m sure you could try adding a pole to that one too. I just haven’t done it so don’t feel confident recommending it
I think with that one I’d see what the substrate looks like after watering. If it is still that compact that plant needs to be repotted even if it doesn’t get a pole.
What Ive done is cut one vine into multiple cuttings. Let them grow in water until they’re ready for soil. Then once they’re growing in soil, I choose the best two with the best leaves and best looking nodes and repot those into a pole. Usually just 3-5 leaves on the cutting
It’s better to cut a few shoots, root them, and plant them on a moss pole. Then you’ll be able to guide them on the pole and control the growth process.
