Should I Take This Palm Down?


I have this palm on the edge of the wall of my house. It is 25 years old.
I have started to worry that it will make retaining wall break or that it collapse on my house.
It looks solid, but it is really high (about 15 meter).

What should I do with it?

    Just get it cleaned up, a proper company will know what to do for you 🙂

    You need to have a HIGHLY experienced person trim this. Palms are notoriously deadly when overgrown and trimmed by amateurs.

    But once it’s trimmed it’ll be good to go

    Is there any way I can control its growth? I don’t want it to get higher than it already is

    How about just clean it?
    Would be a lot cheaper

    Palm root systems are remarkably small. Unless they are pressing right up against the wall, the palm roots cannot damage it.

    Only hire a verified licensed contractor to clean this thing and prepare for a 4 digit bill. If you’re willing to put some work in, you can probably get a climber to prune it for $3-500 and then you could haul all the fronds yourself.

    Get a tree company to clean it up from all of the dead wood

    Trim it by a licensed climber. It has been a while, prepare for rats crawling out.

    I think those are such an eyesore, hard to maintain…would stick with smaller palms…

    Clean it out and skin it they tend to be perfect homes for roof rats and scorpions.

    I can not see exactly how close this tree is to the actual wall. If it is too close, the palm will, in fact, push the wall outward. As far as the tree falling, short of a hurricane, maybe, I doubt it highly. Removing the dead fronds will lessen the weight and actually making the tree look better. It will also get rid of your fire hazard; a bottle rocket stuck in those fronds will light that up as quick as a match stick.
