  1. Really really bad. Like not even close to being decent cuts

  2. I would recommend correcting the cuts, as they look relatively new. Do some research

Absolutely butchered. She hired people with zero actual knowledge

Whoever did that work was unqualified. This is inappropriate and ineffective pruning. Plum tree is going to grow a ton of water sprouts, “suckers”, at those pruning cuts and is gonna look terrible next year.

I’d say that you’re entitled to compensation for this damage being done to your property.

Mom has too much time on her hands. Idle hands are the devil’s workshop, for sure!

  6. substituted_pinions

Did she also kill your lawn and let your bushes get out of shape?

I mean no offense, OP but yard and all has seen better days.

  7. rosedraws

omg I am so sorry, what an insane lack of boundaries by your mom.

  8. DanoPinyon

Your mom is forbidden to touch or hire people forcyour property. Period. End of sentence . Done.

It grew bad before and is now ruined for years. It will survive but I wouldn’ take the job of pruning that back to healthy habit and beautiful. The cuts are on another level. Even a beginner can’t cut that bad. That’s true dedication to brown thumb. They also cut the wrong branches. The good news is that at least the cherry plum tends to grow back and grow lots of fruit no matter how bad you treat it.

They are allowed back for clean up, but you need to work on the trees yourself since they have zero clue about trees

Good intentions gone wrong. Forgiveness and understanding are strengths. Your mom loves you and was trying to do something nice. Is it all fucked up? Yep. Yep it is. It will be ok and it can be a funny story you always hang over your mom when she needs a good ribbing. You too will piss your kids off by trying to do something nice and will hope for the same grace.

    Mom owes you mature trees.

Never ever everpay landscapers to prune trees. Only time I’ve seen a decent job was during my short stint as a landscaper where I discovered that (shocker) landscapers are not gardeners.

Average gardener shouldn’t be pruning trees either.

  13. Everyone else already said it but yes TERRIBLE “work” from conmen

  14. dream_a_dirty_dream

This made me want to vomit. I am horrified 😧

  15. Last-Librarian8398

I can relate- I was at work and came home to my grapefruit tree completely chopped down by my Mum- right as it was beginning to fruit. Not to mention- the day before I begged her to please not touch anything. I’m still cleaning up the mess from the terrible job she did on my own.

  16. cottagecore_editor

OOT but whoa that lawn looks parched. Not 100% big on lawn care, but is that normal where OP is located?

  17. They should grow back fine. Trees get deadheaded worse than that, and they come back quickly.

  18. AgnesTheAtheist

Spend the money and hire an arborist. They know how and best time of year to trim trees. So sorry someone hacked up your tree.

  19. Chuggin_MrChimney

Who tf just cuts off part of a branch but doesn’t prune the rest of it. Yeah she hired a couple of teenagers or family friends fs. it’s not gonna look good for the next couple of springs.

It might be worth it to prune those branches all the way down to the branch as long as it doesn’t do too much damage to the tree itself you don’t wanna accidentally kill it from trauma

  20. ChainsawRipTearBust

No Plumzy, for yer Mumzy, coz she organised pruning that was Clumzy. Pointing down at the ground with both Thumbzy.

  21. Igotalotofducks

Your yard looks like it’s dead from drought. I would water that plum tree and see if it will pull through
