Hello.
Just moved to the Northeast from the South and I noticed this at the base of some trees in my yard. Are these mushrooms I need to worry about effecting the trees? If so can I treat it? Any help I’d appreciate.
I’m not sure about yours specifically (this fungus looks different than what we have) but it could be a sign of rot in the base of your tree. So a symptom rather than a cause. It could definitely be a problem and could be a sign that the base of the tree is weak.
My neighbor had a different type of fungus (very large) at the base of a giant oak tree. The tree fell during a storm and crushed his pool pump house.

Conks and mushrooms growing off the base of a tree are major indicators that this tree is a hazard

Holy Ganoderma root rot! No treatment – I’d immediately jump to a risk assessment from a TRAQ certified arborist
