Can anyone help identify this tree? Concerns of it causing damage to foundation/pipes

That’s a fucking awesome tree. I’d consider that a selling point of the house. Man my kids would have loved climbing that monster in their childhood. The roots look pretty shallow, I don’t think it’s going to be in your pipes. Also, it’s really far from your house and tree roots get significantly smaller after a 15’ or so radius from the trunk

  2. Where is it located? Do you have a photo that hasn’t been subjected to Realtor Greengrass Photoshop Hell?

Bad foundation and broken pipes precede root intrusion. Roots do not break and enter, they only enter.

  4. This house is nearly 1 million dollars. Maybe pay to have someone inspect the house for these issues if you’re concerned.

It’s not even messing with the driveway, and that’s right next to it.

I’m not an arborist, but if this hadn’t already caused foundation issues, I wouldn’t be too worried. I bet that tree is older than the house.

That’s the most beautiful tree I’ve ever seen. Please do not cut it down.

Those roots look like a bad photoshop job. Especially where it has that bit of grass sort of cradled between roots.

Fantastic tree. I take house down and build a tree house rhe size of house! Still a gorgeous ground house, but think of the possibilities!

This tree is easily as old as the house. If it hasn’t caused issues yet it not going to. Trees don’t generally cause the issues either. They advantageously grow into already problematic foundations or pipes.

Ask if they put a root barrier up, but I would think it’s not necessary

This thing is beautiful. With roots like this it will have most of its growth already done so the risk for further raising of your driveway.

That being said, if you are not willing to hire professional arborists to take care of that tree if you driveway gets disturbed further and only hire butchers for their cheapness just don’t buy the house please. This is a beautiful tree. Leave it to someone who noticies it’s value.

There are alway options for smaller driveways or pebbles so no root pruning would be necessary.

I don’t think I’ve ever had tree envy before thirty seconds ago. 😍

My guess is, ficus nitida, over time it will definitely damage driveway, but that’s ok. Probably too far from house for significant damage.

Depending on sewer age and location it could infiltrate sewer, but a lot of trees do that.

Based on size and structure there is a 10-20% chance the tree will suffer a large branch failure over next 20 years.

It’s a Ficus microcarpa var. Hillii.

Beautiful tree in the wrong place. Not the right house

The house is ugly. I say keep the tree no matter what

That tree is incredible. Move the house further away from it.

Possibly Ficus obliqua, small leafed fig. This specimen is still not fully grown.
Identification is best achieved via the fruit.
As an arborist in my region, Ficus as a genus is considered to have a rule unto their own, in respect to their potentially aggressive and invasive root systems.
Only manage this tree with assistance from a certified and experienced arborist.

That tree is worth 10 times what the house is. Please don’t damage it
