In a blind rage this man cut my fiddle leaf fig, frank, down to a stump at 2 am this morning. I have only cried about it once briefly. I have since cut frank into 5 propagation stems and they are sitting in luke warm water outside. I have talked to franks many segments and told them to be strong in these troubling times, I also told them they are still just as beautiful as before and that it will be okay. I am heartbroken. The last picture is frank as a little baby , I got him from a food lion July 1st, 2024. Frank will be a lifelong companion so I know this is just a bump in the road, I’m just upset.

There’s a chance it will survive but that is very aggressive.

I’d also try to propagate the cut plant. Cut it into smaller sections so you have a node or two that you can put in water or damp moss with a couple leaves on it to re-root.

  2. What kind of person does this? Don’t make excuses for him, dump him.

This is abuse! I’m so sorry to see this. I hope Frank survives and makes many baby Frankies and Frannies. And hope you showed this guy the door!

Stay strong, Frank! You can do it! 💪

This is so terrible, and I would be beside myself if someone did this to me. I hope you’re reconsidering your relationship with your bf because this is inexcusable behavior. Stay safe yourself.

  5. Men are so emotional. 🙄

But seriously, your boyfriend can’t regulate his emotions. Dump him and tell him he needs to figure that shit out.

I sure hope you are done with your boyfriend!

Yikes this is a major red flag. Likely he knows how much you love that thing and wanted to hurt you. This time it’s a tree but to what lengths could he go to hurt you?

Keep watering and feeding the stump, it will come back! I had 3 trunks in a pot (came that way) and none were doing well – scraggly but top heavy and falling over. I experimentally chopped one of them down to about the same height on a recommendation from a green thumb relative. Lo and behold about a month later new leaves were sprouting out! I chopped a second trunk shortly after I saw the new growth and now have two happily growing stumps. Plan to chop the third soon since it looks pretty wonky rn.

RIP to the fallen soldier, Frank. 🙏🏿

Long Live Franks II, III and IV🥂

Ps: Scrap the BF. Dude sounds like a total tool.
