What kind of tree and any idea what is wrong with it?

    If it IS fireblight – once the tree has it, it will always have it. You can prune out the affected foliage 6-8 inches below where you see it to control it. Make sure to clean your pruners after each cut. Pears, apples, crabapples are the most affected where I live in Northern California. It’s up to you if you want to control or remove it and try something else 😊
