I’d dissuade anyone from planting Beeches at this point. Beech Leaf Disease is looking as bad as Ash Borer in lethality. In southeastern PA the American Beech are looking awful and the European are starting to show symptoms. There are effective treatments, but expensive and like ash trees if you stop treatment the trees will decline.
