I started this compost several months ago with primarily horse manure (no bedding mixed in, just manure) and dead leaves. The pictures are what I just sifted into a wheel barrow. To me it seems maybe too much carbon and not enough nitrogen, but I thought that would be unlikely due to the high amount of manure. Any insight is appreciated!

You need more green material
More greens!!
Horse manure is pretty much exactly the right ratio of carbon to nitrogen for making compost. If you added leaves you likely got too far to the carbon side. That needs some nitrogen material and time.
Color doesn’t matter. Manure is green. It’s too dry. Add water
pee on it
Add water and greens if you want it to look more soil like. Otherwise it is probably good to use now as an additive in gardening or as mulch.
More time, more water, more turning. It’s still horse manure and leaves.
It should look like chocolate cake when it’s done.
2 months is just a good start
