The Capital District African Violet Society invites the public to attend its 65th Show and Sale to be held at Bethany Reformed Church, 760 New Scotland Avenue in Albany, on Saturday, May 17th, 2025 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday, May 18th from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Admission and parking are free.
The club began in 1952, is an affiliate of the African Violet Society of America, and has held shows regularly since 1956.
The “show” portion of the event consists of a formal judged horticulture competition for African violets and gesneriads, and a design competition for flowers, live plants, dish gardens, and terrariums featuring African violets.
The plant sale features houseplants grown by members and by Lyndon Lyon Greenhouses of Dolgeville, and potting soil and plant supplies will be available. The event also includes a raffle and a bake sale.
Club members will also share educational programs on African violet and gesneriad care, repotting, and propagation. Guests are also invited to bring their own plants or photographs of them for assistance with grooming, repotting, or diagnosing problems.

If only it wasn’t a 44 hour drive one way, excluding stops for eating, sleeping, and such.
