Silver Bearded Rock Moss (Grimmia Laevigata) in a tiny jar. I'm really happy with this one! It was super easy, just got the moss damp and used a pocket knife to carefully peel it from the rock. I scraped as much soil out of the cracks as possible and used that as a base for the substrate.

Rock mosses like this grow all-over the world and are super hardy. This one is highly drought tolerant, and can go up to 10 years without water! My plan is to keep it moist for a few weeks, but to eventually let it go through dry cycles every so often. I'm really excited to see how this little 'sampler' does and to maybe build on the idea. I live in the high desert in Nevada, so semi-arid/terrestrial eco-jars are much easier to collect and care for than aquatic jars.
