A few months ago I moved to a property with a greenhouse and a south facing garden. It's been really lovely to have these at my disposal so I decided to sow loads of veg seeds this year to make the most of it.

I started these off in the last week of March, so 5 weeks ago now. They took about 3 weeks to appear and look slightly yellow. They're all heirloom varieties so I'm unsure if that's normal or if maybe the greenhouse has been too warm and that this is heat stress?

I'm in the North West of the UK where for the past month or so we've had unseasonably dry weather, and some hot spells (20-23 degrees C.). My greenhouse thermometer has read as high as 40 degrees in the morning but once I open up the door and it usually then reads at 25 degrees for the rest of the day.

What are the high and low temps in the greenhouse? Usually slow germination is the result of temperatures not being right. sometimes greenhouse temps swing wildly from too cold at night to too hot during the day.

Now that they have germinated, you should probably feed them. I’ve had pretty good results with giving my seed starting trays a bath in like an inch of fish and seaweed fertilizer solution (Neptune’s harvest).

Also, what are they planted in? It looks quite woody.
