My fiddle leaf fig keeps getting taller, but it isn't developing a trunk that can support its own weight. I have a small stake in the pot, but the stake isn't tall enough, so the top of the plant keeps flopping over. Is there anything I can do to help it grow a stronger or thicker trunk? Aside from perusing the wiki, I'm not well-informed about plant care. I've kept it alive mostly through luck rather than knowledge. I see photos of fiddle-leaf figs that look like actual trees, but mine never seems to outgrow the sapling phase. I recently repotted it in a larger pot with better soil, so I hope that helps but I don't know what else to do. I'm grateful for your advice!

Needs to be right in front of a bright window where the whole plant can see outside
Ok so a few things. Repotting can stress the plant so it might drop a few leaves. Also the other room looks like it has much more light. Fiddles love light. As far as how to get trunk thicker you will need to chop the top half off. Sounds crazy I know. And lastly most people forget to fertilize. Super important as potted plants do not get nutrients. So fertilize every week during spring and summer. All of this will help promote growth.
You need to shake it 3x day or more Or blow a fan on it regularly it will strengthen the stem and support top growth. Also a top chop will strengthen it.
Look into a grow light if that’s where it’s staying
Edit rotate it if it’s reaching for light from the window
