I randomly snagged my first ever African violet a few months back from a local seller. After a rough patch of figuring out their leaves really do not like being wet at all, she’s growing in full force and starting to flower. The leaves start growing in whiteish/yellow and then begin to fill out green as they develop. I’ve never had a plant that slowly starts getting specks of green. Is this normal? It’s really pretty, and fun to watch. She seems happy and no signs of pests or anything. Thanks!

This is very normal with variegated variety. They transform according to season. Thats whats my observation. Im no expert.🤗

Oh wow what a turn around! Have you thought about propagating?

Varigated AVs will have leaves with more green if they need more light, and less green if they have good light. I have a miniature Rob’s pogo stick that has gone completely white in the center.

Picture for my records before it’s repot, as it just finished blooming. I removed a sucker from the empty corner that’s now rooting. Photos online, Rob’s pogo stick’s leaves have more a lot more green. The crown isn’t crowding like I’ve seen on my other AVs, usually with darker leaves.

I’ve moved the plant from my grow shelf to a table to hopefully green back up. It’s not necessary, but leaf propagation is more successful the greener the leaf. I’m not planning to prop considering I have the sucker, though those leaves are super pale – I’d like to have the option in the future
