Mealy bugs or aerial roots?

    They are just little fuzzies from what I can see at this level of detail. These show up all over my rubies at the base of the leaves. It’s normal and nothing to worry about as long as you don’t have other signs of pests.

    okay i spent weeks figuring this out. THEY PRODUCE THIS WEIRD WHITE STUFF ON THEIR OWN. Ruby necklace does this. it’s entirely irritating, scary, and normal.

    formal name is aerial root primordia or is “waxy exudate” that protects new growth while it develops, also associated with (priming for) aerial roots!!

    tldr: rubies necklace enjoys giving us a panic for fun. you’ve got a healthy plant with no (apparent) pests.
