RM- Volshebnyy Tyul'pan ("Magic Tulip") (10696) 05/31/2014 (D. Ozherelyev/N. Skorniakova) Single-semidouble white bell/dark pink patches, variable raspberry fantasy. Medium green, plain, glossy. Standard (Russ/Ukr).
I started this crown from a rootless sucker back in December of 2024 with the hopes that I'd have flowers by May, and here we are. It's very nice to see Magic Tulip all dressed up for the start of her birthday month. April showers really do bring May flowers (even through drought, apparently).
I don't speak Russian but I read that the Russian word for "magic" used in the naming of this violet is more akin to the word "enchanted" than to "magic." I'm not sure if that is true, but I will accept both names for this violet, as it is both enchanting and magical. Dare I say ethereal? Haha. JK…unless?
Enjoy.
