I have been growing this String of Glory for about two years. At first I had it in a soil mix of 50% Miricale Gro indoor plant soil and 50% Miracle Gro perlite. I have it growing under lights Barina t5s adjusted for my low light plants, so they have been surviving but not thriving. I have always bottom watered it.
I was told by a local plant store worker that I need to repot it in chunkier soil. They told me to use 50% of my African violet soil (since it is soil with no fertilizer in it) and 50% grade 3 chunky perlite. I did that and it was drying out too quickly. After only one day post watering the soil was bone dry and the plant was starting to wilt. The leaves at the top started turning yellow and falling off. I gave it a month to adjust and it never did, so I repotted it again in Black Gold cactus mix with a small handful of the grade three perlite to add some chunky medium but not nearly as much as was in it before.
Now it is taking about 2-3 days to become bone dry and wilt, and from what I've read it should take 1-3 weeks? And my plant is becoming bare. I have wrapped a few strands around the top of the plant and am barely getting any growth because the top of soil keeps getting dry within a few hours of watering.
What soil do I need to pot this plant in? I want to propagate a new one, which I have successfully done before, so I have a more full plant.
