Yes mold. I get it occasionally. It never harms my plants. I’ve never worried about it much. Hopefully I’m not supposed to worry about it 😂 but I’ve seen this multiple times in this sub and the general consensus seems to be it’s fine and it’s caused from moisture

It could be mold yes, but it could also be built up mineral deposit from watering

This plant looks like it lives down a pit. Use a pot with drainage. Fill the pot nearly to the rim, leave about an inch of space. Only water the plant when the soil is dry about an inch down. You could just wash the mold off the plant when you repot it.
