I got this pretty lady a few weeks ago. I’m selfish and impatient and I have a really cute pot that I want to swap her to (draining holes and all so no worries there). She’s just doing so well (in my amateur opinion haha) and I’m scared to disturb her. It’s my first pothos and I just love this plant! How do you repot your pothos? Any tips for a smooth transition? New pot will be about 1-2 inches bigger. Any tips for care in general? Thanks!!! 🙂

Gorgeous specimen! I would say to wait a while before repotting. There are barely just a few roots sticking out of the bottom and this plant has variegation so it will grow slower than a single color pothos.

I had a similar situation with a N’joy pothos that took over 5 months before it was ready for a size up.

    Patience will be rewarded

Does the old pot fit in the new pot? No need to disturb the plant but you can still use the pot until it’s ready.

If it were mine I wouldn’t re-pot yet. Pothos roots like to be snuggled and your plant is going to be awhile until that point. If you put it in the bigger pot too soon you’ll stall the growth above the soil because pothos concentrate on filling the root space first. That can cause a few problems down the road. I don’t re-pot(don’t ask me why my phone hyphenates that 🤦🏻‍♀️) until large roots(not the skinny little secondary roots) are circling around against the outside wall of the pot. I like them peeking out the bottom a bit as well. Since your new pot is bigger you can put some marbles, pebbles, rocks or other waterproof draining objects in the bottom as a spacer and set the pot your plant is in now inside it.

I would wait. It doesn’t appear rootbound. Lift it out the pot a bit and see how much roots you have.

Use the cute pot as a cover pot.
