So my family decided to hire some people to 'trim' or I suppose hard prune this gorgeous tree in my front yard. We have some roof issues so they wanted to make some clearance for that work.
I do not know what was said or agreed upon but I come home to the tree looking like…idk an amputee and i am so sad because of it. Rather huge limbs were sawed off and I don't know if it will ever look as full again. My family keeps swearing it will grow back but it sounds largely like cope.
I do not know much which is why I came here.
Is it possible for this tree to have any growth or a full canopy again? I'm sure the big branch limb is done for but will it be able to grow the little branches and leaves or will it look forever this bare. 🙁 I have attached before and afters.

It’s toast. Those are massive wounds that will never heal over. Pests, diseases and rot are sure to set in. Not only this but a huge portion of the canopy/foliage looks like it was removed which is a major stressor on a tree. Trees are already struggling, and this will surely be enough to push it over. Don’t ever expect this to recover. If they were going to butcher it, I can’t imagine why they didn’t just remove it entirely.
Is that mar a lago
Not very professional trimmers 😬
I wanted to defend them as a devil’s advocate but it’s not possible. I’m sorry you have to deal with that. Not only did they take branches they shouldn’t have taken, but the final cuts are awful and there are massive stubs all over the trees. There is no coming back from that, I’m sorry. The trees should survive in the short term but their long term structure and health will take a major hit.
This is infuriating. Maybe it’s because I come from a part of the country where this doesn’t happen so it pisses me off more than some. It’s not on your family OP. It’s on whatever clown ass company they hired that walk around like they know anything about tree work.
