Different growth stages of shield fronds on my staghorn fern (Platycerium bifurcatum):
–
When you first mount a staghorn fern, you will inevitably damage the current shield frond. Don’t worry, this is to be expected – if your environmental conditions are conducive to growth and you care for the plant, then new shield fronds will grow to cover the previous one. This is how the plant grows – shield fronds don’t have to stay green forever.
