I am a newbie maintaining aquarium and growing aquatic plants. Last week i assembled a jarrarium. I purchased a cheap airstone filter and got some attachments with it. One was to control airflow. Since the jar is small (5l) the normal airflow from airstone was too much and was disturbing the floating plants. So i put this flow controller. I am nervous whether this will damage the pump?

Attached are the photos

No, it should be no problem. Just remember to use a non-return valve in case your pump is below the water level.

It will not damage the pump, but those tiny pumps do have a “lifespan” so to speak. Many of mine have crapped out after a couple of months, and I have since upgraded to slightly more permanent pumps like the blue ones from Aqueon. With the flow controller, you can tweak them down low enough and they have lasted me years with no issues.

It doesn’t need oxygen, it’s useless.
