Moved into a property this year with a waterlogged lawn. It's a new build and after heavy rain the garden is destroyed from a mix of the dog and the waterlogging. Dug down into the soil and it's only about 3-4 inches tick and then hard stone mix underneath that is difficult to dig into. Any ideas as how I can solve the waterlogging problem. Based in Ireland so it's permanently raining here.

This problem is hard to tackle and will require a ton of hard, labor intensive work. You would have to get a very deep tiller to break it all up and amend the soil with an organic matter like peat moss to balance out the moisture and allow for better percolation and flow. You need to create a living soil as opposed to the “dead” material that is present currently.
