Monstera story continues ⤵️
–
July 2019: THRIPS!! They were introduced when I brought a different plant to the church but missed 3 consecutive weeks due to travel. I started the lint roller/insecticidal soap spray treatments (for more info: link in profile)
–
March 2020: Pandemic shutdown meant that I needed to take the plant home as I wouldn’t be able to enter the church regularly. The plant was long overdue for repotting…
–
April 2020: VERY rootbound! Gave it a good loosening and potted into a nice 16″ pot, up from 12″. As a very rough guideline, your Monstera deliciosa pot can be as large as its largest leaf.
–
May 2020: shedding of the most damaged leaves. Occasional thrips spray down – the infestation was severe. It may be a while before total eradication.
–
July 2020: looks like you’ll be here for a while. If you’re going to take up a big part of our solarium, might as well get a few time lapse videos from you, Monstera!
–
Next week: I checked up on the original plant at my old church; haven’t seen it for almost a year.
