Do you feel connected to your garden?
.
More than ever, we need our home to be a sanctuary, our place of peace.
.
Did you know that spending just fifteen minutes in nature makes you happier, less stressed and more grounded? Why not bring that tranquil feeling right to your back door? @douglaslandscapedesign shares three tips for maximizing your home’s connection to the outdoors:
.
1. Create beauty with plants: this one is the most important for me. Whether you have a small space or a huge one, plants bring beauty and vibrancy that feed our souls. You can literally bring nature right to your patio.
.
2. Adjust your temperature: you’re not going to want to be outside if you’re uncomfortable. Many of my landscape design clients have found that adding a simple firepit (or a shade structure) makes the outdoors so much more alluring when you might otherwise be tempted to retreat indoors as soon as it’s chilly.
.
3. Bring your beverage: whether it’s coffee or wine, sit outside for just a few minutes. Many mornings, I sit with my tea on my front steps as I contemplate the day. I notice the sounds around me and feel the sun on my skin.
