Following because I just might forgo building on top of my grass If I have to excavate and lay a sound foundation

Wife here! If I were her I’d want you to mount 2×4’s diagonally from the roof line to the top of the half wall to create rafters and then get greenhouse roof panels at home depot to cover it. You can seal the edges with spray foam or some other nicer insulation to make it retain heat. I would figure out a way to make one or several of the panels lift up 15-45° and a fan installed in one corner to circulate fresh air. Then go to town on shelving, either build or buy something nice or just go to ikea or something like that.

You could go for a lean-to greenhouse. This would make use of the wall as a heat sink
Or frame the entire yard in timber, add some perspex and make the entire space a greenhouse and chill out zone. If you get cold weather then this would extend the use of the area.
Things to consider: Ventilation – you’ll air flow for healthy plants and humans Water harvesting and management – if you add water collection then that’s free water. You’ll need to make sure water doesn’t go places you don’t want it (e.g. towards your house) Maintenance – you’ll need to have access to fix the most hard to reach part. Bar and comfy chairs😎

You could just add a glass or other clear panel roof that seals to the house and freestanding wall?
