This area looks really nice for about one week when rhe hostas fully come out then they get absolutely destroyed by the slugs and there's nothing there during the winter. I would like to re do it. Any suggestions on what to plant thats either evergreen or can give something nice a bit longer than one week? It's north facing.

Hebes might work. They are evergreen, flower and easy to prune and keep to size. Or heathers might be nice
You don’t have enough soil for all the planting. They are under watered, and drying out by the look of them. You should thing it out and let fewer plants spread out more. If you can, build up the soil depth up. You need to feed your soil and your plants. Fish blood & bone is good. No point doing it now, have it ready to go for next year.
Too close to the house and a source of dampness in the walls in the future.
More Hostas.
We had a similar little planter in front of our house when we bought it .. and to be truthful, we have just dug out all the soil completely and filled it with little stone we got from the garden center.
We are living here nearly two years and I’m a keen gardener and it still always looked like crap against the house, a shallow bed is really only suitable for small plants and for what ever reason I felt
like I was constantly working on it, weeding it and plants still look weak – it always looked unkempt against the house …. Anyway after messing with it for 2 years we just got rid…
What’s the aspect and what’s the soil depth?
