I planted 3 Berberis in my front garden a year ago and this summer it's gone horribly wrong. 1 on the left is doing okay (just okay, not great), but the other 2 (middle and right) are mainly dead twigs with only small sections keeping foliage.

They're in full fun and I kept them well watered during very hot/dry periods , but I think I may have watered too much and hurt them.

Can anyone offer any Berberis care advice please? Also, should I stick with the semi-dead ones or replace them? TYIA.

Honestly I’ve only experienced them being quite hardy and problem free.

Can be sure of the cause, but to try and save them at least remove all dead diseased and damaged material.
