Potted this Acer around 2 months ago with compost. Moved it to a more shaded area but it has continued to wither.

Salvageable, but you need a way bigger pot and make sure there’s actually drainage holes on the bottom. That looks like an indoor pot cover to me.

Did it dry out? that’s a pretty small pot for the so it could be root bound too.

Lots of trees are dropping leaves early due to drought, even more dangerous for trees in pots. If the stem is still strong and green then it has just gone into hibernation early due to drought.

Ways to stop it from dring out next time; bigger pot, put it in the ground, mulch (leave a gap near the trunk of the tree)

ERICACEOUS COMPOST My dude. Sorry about the caps, couldn’t spell it so copied and pasted. They love their acid! I have quite a few of them and they are all doing great. Even Lazarus that I rescued from Dunnes 15 years ago for a euro. It was a single leaf on a twig.

Mine looks similar, pretty sure it’s wind burn in my case. Apparently they like a sheltered site when they’re young.
