Mom’s milk “tree” turning brown

I bought my mom a euphorbia 3 weeks ago, she only watered once, and it’s getting good light. She’s in SoCal so I can’t inspect myself.

It’s turning brown and she doesn’t know what to do.

Any advice would help!
