Hi everyone, picked up this haworthia last week and been keeping it in indirect lighting. Originally picked it up due to its color but noticed it is now starting to turn green. Just curious as to why?

New haworthia owner and have a few so just trying to learn as much as I can. Appreciate any input or advice!

  1. Well it’s red due to sun stress and unless you sustain the same amount of light grower was giving the plant, it’ll become green-white over time, might even lose white variegation in low light situations.

A cool lesson I learned is almost no plant stays looking like I bought unless I replicate it’s former home. Easier for me to do with succulents than houseplants but I could never quite keep the stress colors on my succulents. I had a practically rainbow colored E. suryeon that was still lovely but much plainer in my window sill. The cold made it’s reds liven up again but I suppose I never quite got the grower’s colors back.
