  1. Love your videos. They are my go to with my coffee first thing in the morning before I start my day. I’ve got a few questions regarding the Lisianthus. When you transplant into the ground, do you plant them a little deeper like passed the first set of leaves? I’ve got 18 plants. Would you suggest I stake them? Thanks for your help…I love my Lisianthus.

  2. I love the cardboard method. I put it under my woven weed fabric because of Bermuda grass. I did leave the bottom of my raised beds with just cardboard. Some of it will try to come up. Keep digging it it
Out. And pull all tint weeds. It’s a pain but I have beds that have no grass. My favorite mulch is shredded leaves for raised beds or shaved wood chips for garlic and strawberries. Or shredded hardwood.

  3. Do you think you will start the list lizzy seeds in November from here on out? The plants are almost twice as tall as those started in January. Another great video and music selection. ❤❤❤❤

  4. Love your videos. How are you able to work outside with your hair down? 😊 I have long hair too, and it has to be up and out of my face.

  5. How long before you can start planting after putting down the cardboard? Like do you know about how long it takes the cardboard to breakdown?

  6. Where did you get your?lisianthus seeds? I bought two packages from two different sellers and only one germinated from both packs. Super disappointed. I love your videos your families amazing and I love how you keep it real. Thank you for sharing all of your knowledge.

  7. I started doing this after I saw you use this method previously- SO much easier. Just remember to remove plastic tape!!

  8. QUESTION: We have a big area covered in cedar bark. Its kept weeds out but I’d really like to put a small lawn in the middle of it. Could I rake away the chips, lay down cardboard, lay compost, and seed it with lawn seed? Any chance that would work? Rather than tilling it and amending it and all that?

  9. I’ve used this method on all my borders. I soaked the cardboard through with water first then mulch That way keeping the soil underneath damp

  10. I did this to a very large corner area in my yard last June 2023. This is what I learned. I don't have drip there so the sprinklers water everything BUT, I thought I almost killed my tree. I couldn't figure out why it was dropping leaves so quick. By the end of the summer I realized the water was not making its way down thru my compost and cardboard. Tree was not getting watered. The plants I planted last year I cut a circle in the cardboard, cut out the grass and put the plant in. Sprinklers got to the plant. This year, when I have dug holes, the cardboard is gone, the grass is gone, and there are a ton of worms. It is the best planting area in my yard. So to recap, if you don't have a drip system where you are putting the cardboard, make sure any existing trees can still get water. Also, I tore off all the tape on my packing boxes and, did not use the waxy colorful boxes. Furniture stores also have really big cardboard pieces that you can use.

  11. Wondering if you had to harden off all the lisianthus before planting out? Absolutely gorgeous flowers but I heard they’re extra tedious.

  12. To leave the beds just mulch no flowers no grass doesn't make since to me. You showed the bed you put down cardboard in two years ago and no flowers or plants.

  13. I want to know if this method works on invasive zoysia or bermuda grass? If there are extra steps needed or if it's not functional altogether?

  14. I don’t know how I missed this cardboard trick to creating a flower bed. Thank you for GA and GA friends for sharing.😊

  15. DOES NOT WORK WITH THE DEVILS GRASS – AKA BERMUDA GRASS – but I"m glad it works well for you in your area!

  16. I did this method around my air conditioner, cardboard then a thick layer of mulch……3 years later, still looking good….the mulch is a bit faded and broken down, I add more and mix with the old…. to bring it back to life. I love this method!

  17. I love this weed barrier! My husband isn’t sold on the idea. It’s easy to add more cardboard as needed with bark mulch by raking back the mulch and laying more down!

  18. About how long after putting the compost over the cardboard can you plant?
I’m amazed at how well the other area did.

  19. I used layers of newspaper, you’d never knew they were there plus it helps with the weeds. It disappears so easily and was able to plant the next year.

  20. Love that cardboard method…use it all the time! I usually wet the cardboard before adding the compost…just to help it not blow away before the compost.

  21. I am a novice! Excuse my lame question…laying cardboard & mulch-do I dig into it to plant? Or is it just for the clean look it provides? Thank you.

  22. Hi Laura! You showed my garden in Virginia on a Before/After video! Anyway, love your channel and your gardens and I was wondering what your favorite area in your garden is?!? Mine is your chicken coop area…love the cottage style! What is yours?!?

  23. Anyone have any helpful hints for planting in the cardboard before it breaks down? I usually only put it in beds where I won't touch them until the following year but this year I made several new beds and digging through the cardboard has been a nightmare. I wish I had done it last year so they would be ready this summer but I didn't.

  24. So happy that you're showing this method of using cardboard to block weeds. It works GREAT! Love all your videos with your cheerful enthusiasm and knack for accomplishing huge projects easily. You make anything possible.

  25. Pls give us the name of the site where you can get free wood chips. I couldn't understand what you said in the video. I also have a hard time understanding the names of some of the plants you talk about in your videos. If you could add on the screen some of the harder to pronounce names it would be really helpful. Listen to you all the time….

  26. Thank you Laura. I've been using this method with a lot of success also. Both wood chips and soil. I just can't get rid of the creeping grass. Do you save seeds from the lisianthus? Bless you Laura.

  27. I created an island using the cardboard method last year and it worked great! This year I did have to pull quite a few weeds but put another layer of fresh mulch and looks great The cardboard totally broke down like Laura said. I do have a question on the weed brew…what is 12% in ounces versus gallon of water? Can we use on grass as our Nieghbor has tons of dandelions and now we have them 😕 the concentrate says to use 5oz. To one gallon Thanks!

  28. I'm looking forward to the geranium's going in, but am wondering if maybe they are for the College?
Either way your garden is so lovely and beautiful.

  29. I've done the no-dig method for 30+ years. After I put the cardboard I add topsoil and then plant immediately by cutting into the cardboard with a blade. After planting I add large chunk bark mulch on top. Viola! Instant garden. The grass dies slowly and will fertilize your plantings. Save your back, and your energy!

  30. I am really loving the new music you are putting in the videos. Who ever decided to change it was spot on. Great choices.

  31. Instant gratification~we did this in a couple of places on our new acre…I need more cardboard.
