Is there any cheap lava pumice grit mix I can buy? I just bought some lithops and ran out of the grit. I ordered 5 pounds of grit mix for $20! 5 pounds may sound like a lot, but it wasn’t enough for my pots since I mixed some with some other plants as well. 😔

I buy lava rock chunks from the hardware store and use a hammer to beat them into tiny chunks. They have lava rock for obscure BBQ reasons
I just mix my own soil. A big bag of commercial succulent mix and additional pumice is all I really use at this point. Oddly, it seems like pumice is difficult to get outside of CA. Petite works too but I’m not a huge fan, as it separates from the soil really easily.
I haven’t done this personally, but try asking your local fb plant group. Sometimes folks are kind and will give a little bit away. You also ask if they can sell you a little bit.
This is my favorite. Works really well and comes in different sizes.

Because their localish, you might be able to find a rockery or even most hydro store will have lava rock and pumice cheaper sometimes mixed if not separated. Throw them in a 5 gallon bucket shake a few times and its mixed…

Look for somewhere that sells to landscaping companies, they usually have pumice in large bags for very reasonable. Here in SoCal, I go to Whittier Fertilizer, there’s generally something close to you that sells to people using it as a soil amendment.
