I bought this succulent on clearance for $2 about a month ago thinking maybe I could help it out some and I fear I’ve only made it worse. I’ve had it under a grow light, I don’t water it too often (but when I do I make sure to be thorough), and even added in a little fertilizer. The leaves kept falling till there were none, but the stem is still green so maybe there’s hope?? Any ideas on what I should do? Second picture is about a week after I bought it

Looks like it’s growing to me ? Just don’t over water it . I usually neglect the succulents just a little bit and they are always doing great 👍

A tiny 1″ pot -max 2″ – would be more suitable. Terribly over-potted. With that much soil, the roots will rot.

Ignore it for a month or two. Literally pretend you don’t own it.

    It’ll be fine.

My son’s dog chewed up one of mine and it looked sort of like this.

I ended up with like 6 (some leaves didn’t get demolished) s Bob was in my graces again lol

Stop watering it. Wait until you actually see some growth.

They grow slowly. You don’t want to see it gain excessively in height, actually. That’s called etoliation, and it’s a sign of inadequate light.

Don’t water the plant until the plant itself looks thirsty. Also, if your soil is still moist 1″ under the surface 3 days after watering, you MUST replace it with soil that has better air circulation below the surface, or your roots will rot. It **is not** just as simple as watering less often. If the roots are moist for a long enough period to rot, succs will die.

Succulent parents should worry WAY WAY WAY WAY less about how often they water succulents than about how quickly their succ soil dries after watering.

What everyone said, but also it really shouldn’t need fertilizer if that is new dirt from the store. That stuff is usually pretty loaded up already. When I chop the tops off my succulents, I leave the stump, like yours, in the pot with the other things I have growing. I might water it every other week.

My experience with these is that they’re super low maintenance. I’ll have some of these pieces that break off and start growing roots, so I just plop them in the ground and they do their thing! 💚
