It’s National Gardening Week 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 So, GET OUT & GARDEN! Gardeners know how important gardening is to well being & mental health but we don’t do it for that – we do it because it’s fun & we love it! If you’re new to gardening then over the course of the week I’ll be posting some plant combinations to try with a little bit of info. Half the fun of gardening is in the planning so even if you can’t buy the plants at the moment you can dream of making a splash of colour when you can. The first is this one (although you’ll have to use delayed gratification as the Tulips & Allium are planted in the autumn). A combination for full sun on well drained soil. Clockwise from top left Centaurea montana, Tulipa ‘Queen of Night’, Allium ‘Purple Sensation’, Iris ‘Amas’ or similar (sorry – answers on a postcard for the specific variety). This will definitely give your garden some ‘ooomph’ in late April & May! Don’t forget to plant the Iris with the rhizomes on the surface so they can bake in the sun. That way you’ll get a good display of flowers. .
