Welcome to Seed, Sow and Grow Gardening. I’m Lisa, here in the Philippines, and I will be your host. Just a quick gardening update for you. The okra and tomatoes are doing well. Okra, also known as lady’s fingers, is a flowering plant in the mallow family native to East Africa. It’s cultivated in tropical, subtropical, and warm temperate regions around the world for its edible green seed pods. The pods have a mild taste and a unique texture, with a peach-like fuzz on the outside. Inside the pod are small, edible seeds. Okra is a good source of vitamins, minerals, and fiber, and it’s used in many cuisines around the world, including gumbo in the Southern United States, stews in Africa and the Middle East, and curries in India.
