I have a south facing John deere room that is sealed off from the rest of the house with its own mini split hvac unit, utility sink, exterior door and floor drain. I’d like to put in several large windows and keep the temp under control with the HVAC unit.

Would this work as a greenhouse of sorts? I’d like to start growing greens in the winter months, as well as start my seedlings earlier with more natural sunlight, and possibly even try some other plant varieties like tropical fruits, year round figs, etc. Im picturing a bright, warm tropical feeling room in the middle of the winter.

The sun hits this part of the house directly for 7-8 hours, and I would be ok supplementing with artificial light for a few hours if necessary. Is this a waste of time and money and I should just invest in a stand alone greenhouse?
