Beginner moss cultivator here. Found some Haircap moss a little less than a month ago. Been keeping it in a clear plastic shoe box layered with Top soil > Lump Charcoal > screen mesh > pebble drainage layer. It’s closed usually but I take the lid off every 3 days or so for fresh air, but when I do the phyllids curl up like it’s drying out. I keep it pleasantly moist without standing water in the bottom. The side of one has turned very dark green and the side of the other is starting to turn brown (it was kept against the side of the container close to a West facing window, I think that’s the culprit) any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It looks too wet to me actually. I often overwater my mosses; they turn darker green then brown. Don’t take my word for it though.
Also, few hours of filtered sun per day is good.
