I’ve been getting the question “Do you use masking fluid?” in a lot of my posts so thought I’d answer here:
The white lines and spaces between shapes are the white of the paper, I am not using masking fluid. I have tried it but found it ruins brushes immediately and smells toxic (not inspiring and breaks my creative flow). I get cleaner lines without it. The technique I use in my work takes a really long time, I am a very technical artist (also clean ocd). Sometimes I wish I had a larger body of work and could produce more work but I am thrilled with the quality that comes with this slow process. I mostly paint with these tiny little brushes and just to give you an idea of how long a piece takes me.. I spent at least 3 days drawing and painting this Notocactus. Not to mention all the time spent researching, I’m a wannabe botanist.
I highly recommend these brushes: Silverwhite 1500, pair with Masters Brush Cleaner
Hope this gives you some insight to my process! Happy Sunday! 💛
