I recorded this video at the end of May, 2017. Location: Las Vegas Nevada, USA.

In this video, I show what I planted near/underneath of some of my fruit trees. If you have more ideas or suggestions please let me know.

I really like the idea of growing edible and/or beneficial plants the way forest grows (many layers) instead of one height standard fruit tree orchards or garden rows, since growing a ‘food forest’ can take less space to grow more food and without me having to kill insects. To me it looks more beautiful since I value natural beauty and… plus I don’t have to be so organized 🙂

  1. Cool, I'm doing the same thing and have zero experience with this stuff. Good to see. You might be interested in some of the things I'm doing. Espaliering 20 fruit/nut trees, growing sunflowers in front of them to protect them from sun and to break up the clay with their deep tap root, growing tomatoes, asparagus, and peppers behind/under the trees, and using deep mulch (with wood chips). I'm amazed how well some of it is doing………and some not so good……lol.
    I'm subscribing to you.

  4. Thanks for posting a video. I also live in Mojave desert and am trying to grow passion fruit but it never gave fruit for 2 years. Does your passion fruit die back in winter and grow back in spring time? I don' know why mine doesn't have fruit.
