The garden cottage construction begins! Today I’m sharing a garden walk and talk of the cottage location, design, and plans for creating a living frame. My husband has been busy deconstructing the compost pile, I’ve been moving lots of plants, and Josh has the cottage framed in already! Thank you for joining us on this new garden adventure! #gardening #gardendesign #gardeningvideos

  1. Ooooo Danielle!! It's all sooooooooooooooo beautiful!! This truly is Beautiful Life!! We take what and where we find ourselves and transmute it into something so wonderful for everyone to share. Enjoy dear one – each moment of your journey. I love you.💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞

  2. Danielle, the beauty of your cottage, maybe hidden by your thoughts of the covering. That would be alot of work to keep up. Cutting and managing. My thought would be to incorporate some pots with seasonal flowers, i even have a holly berry bush in a pot for several years, and doing well. I have started to keep this simple, but yet beautiful. But this is yours, so you have to go with what you feel.

  3. It's just so great you found such wonderful carpenter, they are so hard to come by where I am. Look forward to seeing it anchor the garden, and the finishing touches. I don't how you feel about cedar shakes, but it would so lovely.

  4. Nice! Great solution for the placement with the new privacy screens and the hornbeam. I could totally see it. It makes sense and that’s a good sign. I think hornbeam is a great choice, that will have my vote, but interesting to see if there are other good suggestions. Here’s hoping for a cottage Q and A later.

  5. Going to be beautiful!! What about a climbing hydrangea to be your living wall, since its your favorite!

  6. It is exciting that it is becoming a reality. It is on my list for next year to get a garden shed built for my garden. We have to check with our zoning board to make sure we are able to build it on our property first. I call it my "she shed." LOL. We will be waiting for each video to come out of the building project!! Yeh!

  7. I love this. Can he come to north Alabama?
Possibly use Carolina Jasmine or climbing 🌹 roses?

  8. How very exciting Danielle! Can't wait to see the final project. Also, I thought Japanese beetles loved Hornbeams.

  9. Maybe it's more pleasing to the eye to placed the cottage on the center of the raised beds, even if you have to remove the last 2 raised beds and find another place for them. Just a thought… either way it's going to be beautiful!

  10. I love what we are seeing so far! Question; will you be running electricity for lighting? And will you be finishing the walls inside with some kind of material?

  11. Your excitement and passion are so infectious. But I certainly would not want to smell or look at a compost pile while in the shed with a window open. During hot, wet and humid summer months, the smell would be overpowering. Please give this serious consideration. I know that the end result will lovely. Climbing hydrangeas rather than aggressive vines would frame the shed nicely. Less maintenance. Construct a peaceful place with less work and stress. Look at photos of the area in all four seasons and then make objective and practical planting decisions. You will be so glad that you did this.

  12. I enjoyed watching this process so much. So great to connect with the right carpenters with the right skills and great-to-work-with attitudes. Happy for you and your family.
