This is my first Hoya. I purchased her under the name Iris Marie. She didn’t have any young or new lead growth on her but after a month of care and the grow light in my kitchen she started growing new leaves and fast. Is it normal for the leaves to be this purple? Should I give her less light?

Baby leaves are often different than the mature ones. I used to grow this hoya, but can’t recall what the new growth looked like. Monitor for stress and take action accordingly.

Yes. The pigment is like sunscreen for baby leaves.

Thank you all for the help!! I will keep her where she is for now. She is growing quite tall and I may have to cut her back in a few months. I’m surprised by how sturdy her stems are.
