I’ve lived here since Feb 2021 and tried to maintain my garden but in all honesty I don’t know what I’m doing.
Amongst those pics is a lamppost (honest) swamped by bushes which used to be visible.
I guess my questions are:
How do I go about this without damaging/killing anything?
What can come out to help with crowding and maintenence?
What’s your general advice? Open to any suggestions.
Thank you!!

The yellow leaved Choisya Ternata in pic 1 is the only one I wouldn’t prune until spring, all the rest will take a pruning before winter and easily recover. To the left of the Choisya is a big Spirea (I think) that responds well to a very hard prune. You have a Sedum just about to flower (bottom left pic 2) and that will die off for the year anyway. Last pic looks like a big Escallonia hedge, and that can take any amount of pruning.
